Yountsville  -- Mrs. Florence Stevens, 81, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. James J. Davis of Crawfordsville. She had been in failing health since last February and seriously ill 3 months. Born January 17, 1879 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Mullen Smith.She married Samuel T. Stevens in 1905. They were married in Crawfordsville. Mr. Stevens died in 1942. Mrs. Stevens was a member of the Yountsville Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. Survivors include the granddaughter at whose home she died, a daughter, Mrs. Mary McCance, of Crawfordsville; two sons, Raymond and Russell Stevens of Crawfordsville; 7 grandchildren and 23 great grandchldren. She was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur Stevens and brother, Wilbur Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Methodist Church here with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may pay their respects at the Davis residence at Crawfordsville, 1813 S. Green St, after 7 p.m. Monday. - transcribed & submitted by Karen Bazzani Zach
